Top Players by OPS in 2013 & 2014

Since baseball season is around the corner, I wanted to look at the best players by OPS the past 2 years and whether they were increasing or decreasing.  Here's a little viz that shows that along with being able to take a look at their career and what makes up their OPS.

500 Homerun Club

Wanted to see what the impact of the steroid era had on the 500 homers club.  Seems that the list would not be the same.  The steroid era had such an effect on baseball, I would argue it might have also saved the game.  The Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa home run race was the best baseball television of those years.

Rich Data, Poor Data

Great article by Nate Silver on why sports analytics is much better than other "real life" analytics.

I've always been such a baseball stat nerd.  I remember playing stats only baseball games since I was a young kid, which might have been a precursor to my professional life.
